Portsmouth joined a select group of cities across the world in April as it hosted the Portsmouth Enterprise AI Agent Week, part of a global series organised by CrewAI. The programme ran simultaneously in twenty five cities, bringing together innovators, founders and engineers to explore the fast growing field of autonomous AI agents. Portsmouth was the only city outside London selected to host the event in the United Kingdom.

The Portsmouth edition was led by Anuoluwapo Gabriel through the Portsmouth Tech and Cultural Hub in partnership with Urbond. The gathering drew professionals from University of Portsmouth, Southampton, Cambridge and London, along with local technologists, entrepreneurs and students who filled the venue throughout the day.

The event featured an impressive line up of speakers who shared insights on the future of AI automation in product design, financial services, education and business operations. Speakers included Babatunde Adegbite, senior software engineer, Liyi Victor, chief executive and product chief of Glade Finance, Chris Mason, chief technology officer of Desk2Educate, Gemma Faux, co founder of Tiagatech, Becky Lodge, founder and chief executive of Little Kanga, and Bankole Adeniran, co founder and product chief of Venture Log Limited. They were joined by other leading voices in the sector who contributed to panel conversations and technical demonstrations.

One of the highlights of the day was the development of seven AI agent use cases created. These ranged from workflow automation tools for financial institutions and the greens space. The hands on work sessions allowed participants to experiment with new AI frameworks and collaborate with experts from across the region.

The success of the Portsmouth Enterprise AI Agent Week reinforce the city’s growing reputation as an emerging centre for digital technology and innovation. For many attendees, it was a rare opportunity to take part in a global technology programme without leaving the south of England. Organisers confirmed that the strong turnout and community response have strengthened Portsmouth’s position as a host for future technology events.
